Lavender

Lavender is one of many different essential oils. Therapists appreciate the numerous benefits that a client can derive from treatment with lavender oil. Treatment with lavender can deliver important psychological benefits. Such a treatment can help a client to feel less stressed.

The same treatment can also provide a client with a number of other benefits. For example, a client who is able to inhale the lavender fragrance can feel more relaxed. That increased relaxation can often help a client to sleep better. The lavender fragrance has also been used to cure depression.

Certain types of pain can be alleviated by aromatherapy. Certain types of pain disappear once the client has an opportunity to inhale the lavender fragrance. Headache pain that occurs at the side of the head, i.e. a migraine headache, often responds to inhalation of the lavender fragrance.

Lavender oils demonstrate a healing effect on the skin. Minor cuts can heal faster when treated with lavender oil, as can wounds that cover large areas of skin. A burn victim responds to treatment with lavender oil. The discomfort of insect bites disappears following use of lavender oil. Rashes can be remedied by application of lavender oil.

Lavender oil has antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. Those multiple properties highlight the oil’s ability to heal skin injuries. Cold sores, blisters and athlete’s foot also respond to treatment with lavender oil.

Lavender oil has other properties, properties that concern portions of the body other than the skin. Lavender has anti-inflammatory properties. Clients with arthritic joints or with rheumatism have benefited from those properties. They have responded positively to treatment with lavender oil.

Still, lavender should not be seen as a treatment for symptoms that primarily affect the elderly. A young person who wants to be freed of worries about dandruff should consider using a lavender hair rinse. The lavender rinse eliminates the causes of dandruff.

Lavender is said to have anti-convulsant properties. That could be the result of the relaxing action produced by inhalation of the lavender fragrance. Lavender also has anti-depressant properties. It can cure the symptoms associated with stress. Those who feel less stressed are less apt to enter a stage of depression.

Beyond aromatherapy, lavender can by used in sachets. Its fragrance can save material from damage caused by moths. Even the stripped lavender stem can serve as a useful stick. It can be used as a way to fill the air with incense.
