Pure Essential Oils
Each of the essential oils represents the very essence of the
plant from which it was extracted. An essential oil can derive
from any of the many plant parts—stems, leaves, bark,
roots, flowers and seeds. Pure essential oils contain no trace
of an artificial substance.
Pure essential oils have been added to a clarifying soap, providing
acne sufferers with a proven way to rid themselves of their
unsightly acne. Essential oils can not deliver the same benefits
when added to a conventional soap. In that case, the saponication
process destroys the healing powers of the pure oils.
Pure essential oils can help to soothe the skin. Some essential
oils have been blended with a carrier oil, such as apricot kernel
oil or grape seed oil. Avocado oil, Macadamia nut oil and rose
hip seed oil have all been mixed with carrier oils. They have
then shown the ability to soften dry skin.
When applied to sunburned skin, pure essential oils can offer
relief to the person with the reddened skin. Oils from the Helichrysum
and German Chamomile have been mixed with Aloe Vera or Jojoba.
The resulting mixture is quickly absorbed by the skin. Once
absorbed, the pure essential oils work wonders on skin that
has received too much sun.
Pure essential oils are distilled by steam or water from various
plant parts. Undiluted oils can be placed in diffusers, which
send the oil’s fragrance into the air. Inhalation of the
scent of an essential oil can have a healing effect.
Once they are diluted, pure essential oils can be applied to
the skin. If that oil is diluted with carrier oil, the skin
then has the ability to absorb that oil. The oil penetrates
down into the deep skin, the area of skin that produces the
new skin cells.
Online suppliers of pure essential oils offer some very unique
and special oils. One, for example, offers oil from the Ravensara
plant in Madagascar. Because Madagascar is an island, many of
its native plants exist nowhere else on earth. Oil from the
leaf of the Ravensara plant has been shown to have antiviral
properties.
Any of the essential oils can loose its healing and rejuvenating
powers, if it is not stored properly. An essential oil should
be stored in a cool, dry space. It must remain covered; the
lid over the essential oil keeps it from rapidly evaporating
into the air.
