Myth: Essential Oils should be Heated for a Warm Massage
Fact: Essential oils should never be placed over an open flame,
as many oils are strong solvents that are highly flammable. Use
caution and do not place any essential oils on a stove, fireplace,
or any heated source--for that matter. Always read the labels on
your essential oils very carefully.
Myth: Essential Oils are no different from any other fragrant oils
Fact: Essential oils are made of all natural plant extracts. Other
oils do not carry any therapeutic benefits, as they only offer chemical
additives. Do not be mistaken, essential oils are very different
from chemically created fragrant oils.
Myth: Essential Oils are completely safe for small children and
pregnant women
Fact: Many oils have warning labels that prohibit their use for
children, patients with heart complications, medical related injury,
persons with sensitive skin--and yes, pregnant women.
Myth: The practice of Aromatherapy is completely safe for use on
pets
Fact: While it is true that there are aromatic blends to use in
your home to soothe our furry friends, it’s not safe to use
essential oils directly on their skin or fur.
Myth: Essential oils are completely harmless
Fact: Like anything, if used improperly, Essential oils can be fatal.
Never drink essential oils directly from the bottle. Never place
essential oils directly onto your skin. Always use a base oil to
apply your essential oil to. As stated earlier, never place essential
oils into an open flame.
Myth: Essential oils are used to treat disease
Fact: While it is true that many terminal patients use aromatherapy
products, there is no supporting evidence that says essential oils
will cure disease. Nevertheless, aromatherapy products have been
known to alleviate symptoms associated with illness and they are
used by patients for this reason.
Myth: Aromatherapy is only for Religious People and the Superstitious
Fact: Nonsense! While the practice of aromatherapy has been labelled
a ‘new age’ alternative, people from all walks of life
use aromatherapy. Professionals, religious, non-religious, young,
middle-aged, elderly, male, female--as you can see aromatherapy
is a wide spread practice.
Myth: It’s completely safe to use essential oils in my light

Fact: Yes and No. While many people have done it without a problem,
it must be carefully considered. If your essential oil is flammable,
like most are, do you really want to place it beside a heat source?
