Can Aromatherapy Help you?
The practice of Aromatherapy is very effective for muscular pain,
PMS, depression, stress, anxiety, sleep disorders, and digestive
problems. Here are some results from clinical studies where Aromatherapy
has been used.
Aromatherapy for Behavior
Results from studies suggest that Aromatherapy oils and scents have
a strong effect on our minds and behavior. In animal studies, scientists
observed excited mice (who had consumed large trace amounts of caffeine).
The scientists sprayed the rodent’s cages with Lavender and
Sandalwood oils. The mice were quickly calmed by the soothing aroma.
The same oils are also used to treat depression and anxiety disorders,
as they have an amazing effect on the brain and central nervous
system. Lavender and Sandalwood have a calming effect.
Aromatherapy for Sleep-Aid
In a study reported in England, older patients (who complained of
insomnia) slept "like babies" once lavender oils were
diffused into their bedrooms at night. Prior to the use of aromatherapy,
the elderly people tried several things, including the use of sleeping
pills. Nothing worked prior to Aromatherapy.
Aromatherapy for Physical Postpartum Discomfort
In a blind study, over 600 women applied lavender oil to their perrineal
area after child birth. The women reported an overwhelming physical
improvement between the third and fifth day of Aromatherapy.
Aromatherapy for Common Colds
It’s been long established that chicken soup is the best way
to cure the common cold. Nevertheless, studies were conducted in
order to determine whether the effect was due to the action of the
hot vapors on the lining of the nasal cavity or if the aroma of
the coup was the direct effect of remedy. The results of the study
indicated that chicken soup’s aroma was more effective than
the steam. Aroma’s are very powerful!
Aromatherapy for Stress
In a study conducted at a hospital in New York, patients undergoing
MRI’s reported that they felt less claustrophobic after they
were introduced to the aroma of vanilla. It became obvious that
the aroma reduced their fears and trepidations. Hence, aromatherapy
is a good treatment for those suffering from anxiety.
In another study: Over 100 Intensive Care Unit patients said they
were feeling much better after the essential oil Lavender was administered
into the air. No physical changes were observed, but the patients
looked and felt happier.
Aromatherapy and Male Sexual Response
Impotency studies proved that aromatherapy was an effective treatment
to circulate blood to the male organ. Most of the men responded
to the scents of lavender, cola, and oriental spice. While the older
men responded to the scent of Vanilla.
