Explore Incense for Aromatic Meditation

Meditation has been known to train the mind to focus and achieve positive energy, while promoting clarity, relaxation, and spiritual clarity. There are several techniques one can utilize when practicing meditation, including special breathing techniques, concentration, and of course--the burning of incense. People realize that aromatherapy is an important part of meditation, but do we know which ingredients are advised to achieve an absolute meditative state of relaxation?

Several meditation practitioners do not recommend the aromatic burning of incense during a meditation, but prior to the meditation, as it prepares the room. Perhaps this is because many practitioners find the smoke distracting, as it may interfere with their breathing exercises. If you do decide to burn incense during meditation, be certain that you are in a well-ventilated room. It’s also important to make sure that your incense is located in a proper incense holder, to prevent fire.

Certain types of herbs, resins, and woods purify the air of any impurities. The aromatic scent clean and diffuses ingredients that are soothing and provide us with a calm state of mind. In order to obtain inner peace, we must first be in a complete state of relaxation. Aromatherapy, like meditation, is a link in the chain. In order to find inner peace, we must meditate. In order to meditate, we need to prepare the room with incense.

When selecting your incense, choose very cautiously. Incense that contains artificial ingredients also contains toxic chemicals. Doing harmful things to our bodies defeats the purpose of meditation. Our bodies are our temples, we must preserve them and protect them from harm.

Good quality incense can be found at new age shops and on the internet. It’s important that you read the ingredients prior to purchasing incense. A higher price does not necessarily mean higher value. This is why it’s so important to look for all natural ingredients. Avoid novelty stands that burn incense in the colors of red, pink, and blue. These are usually novelty items filled with impurities. Please remember, the smoke that comes from your incense should never (ever) be black. This is a key sign that your incense is not pure. Any aroma given is artificially added with chemicals.
